As “neurocepções” cerebrais comandam a concepção do mundo. Situated in the interface between European semiotics (Saussure, Hjelmslev, Greimas and continuators) and segments of cognitive neuroscience the research aims to give contours - in my view unusual - to a conceptual antagonism, which comes to us since Plato's cave: the severe opposition soul/body, spirit/matter, thesei/physei, form/substance. Rewritten for the purposes of this project, it is worth renaming it: language/brain. Is the human mind, the culture of men, their thinking, consciousness, feelings, imagination, in short, their global spirit, an effective and exclusive creation of a neuronal brain? Or is it a construct plotted by the presence and action of language in each brain, which forces it to resiliencies and neuronal (re-) configurations unique to each experience of man and his body? The question is truly monstrous, but this project does not intend to exhaust this monstrous question. Rather, it aims to give it new contours through a dialogue of interchange of points of view between the pairs involved, that may allow us to glimpse paths of passage, vectors of intersection, new "implicit symmetries" - an expression borrowed from René Thom, clarified in the project attached below - in the objects under examination, to mitigate the heavy gravity of the fierce antagonism that still exists between the two scientific fields in interface. The title of the latest book by Miguel Nicolelis reflects well the position of almost all neuroscientists: "The true creator of everything. How the human brain sculpted the universe as we know it" (2020). Brain "neuroceptions" command the conception of the world. In turn, a strong proposition by L. Hjelmslev translates well the way semiotic theory understands the issue: "language/language (sprog) is the way in which we conceive the world" (1953). The "semioceptions" brought about by the semiotic act of signs (arbitrary act), create and induce the subject's preceptions and apprehensions of the world. The neuronal brain would do nothing but operate them in its neuronal configurations and synapses. By the neuroscientific hypothesis, if the brain causes everything, besides the dysfunctional diseases of a body and its vital organs, also the "psychic misfortunes" of a subject should have as exclusive treatment biochemical pharmacology (medicines and remedies). According to the linguistic hypothesis, cultural, psychological misfortunes can be better treated by a "semioceptive" repositioning of the way the subject interprets the events that come to him/her. To be a "therapy" of the individual and the social has been, from the beginning, a longing of Greimas' semiotic theory (Sémantique structurale, 1966). Weighing the two ways of treating the human, I understand that the project may have beneficial results for society when we understand that the search for alleviating human suffering is always a necessary undertaking, which justifies every hypothesis and interface study.
